Credentialing

Membership Credentials

Board Certified Clinical Psychologist (B.C.C.P.)
    Requirements for Board certification include:

  • Master's degree in any discipline plus a Doctoral degree
    in Mental Health counseling, Pastoral Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Psychoanalysis or similar course of study acceptable to the Board 
  • Active relationship in a local religious community
  • Completion of two units of supervised CPE or its equivalent
  • Three years in active clinical or pastoral counseling
  • 3,000 hours of documented clinical counseling experience
  • AAPP Standardized Counselor Exam or National Counselor Exam (NCE)

  • Board Certified Psychotherapist (B.C.P.)
    Board Certified Psychoanalyst (B.C.Psy-A)      

    Requirements for board certification include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline plus a Masters or Doctoral degree
    in Mental Health counseling, Pastoral Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Psychoanalysis or similar course of study acceptable to the Board 
  • Active relationship in a local religious community
  • Completion of one unit of supervised CPE or its equivalent
  • Three years in active ministry, clinical or pastoral counseling
  • 300 hours of documented pastoral or clinical counseling experience
  • Oral and/or written Examination as determined by the Board

    Board Certified Psychotherapist – Diplomate (B.C.P.D)
    Board Certified Psychoanalyst – Diplomate (B.C.Psy-A.D)  

 

 

    Requirements for board certification include:

  • Certification as a B.C.P.P or B.C.P.Psy-A
  • Documented achievement in two of the following areas:

                    Academic (Doctorate)

                    Research

                    Publication

                    Leadership

                    Contribution to church or community

                    Contribution to another mental health discipline

  • State license/certificate to practice or be approved
    to practice specific mental health disciplines, or receive 50 hours of clinical supervision
  • Provide at least 1,000 hours of documented pastoral or clinical counseling
  • Submit a research paper about the applicant’s counseling methods 
  • Oral and/or written Examination as determined by the Board

Board Certified Psychotherapy Specialist (B.C.P.S.)

Board Certified Psychoanalysis Specialist (B.C. Psy-A. S.)

Includes lay persons and those persons acting as a parish minister, rabbi, or chaplain.

Requirements include:

  • Active in a local religious community
  • Completion of 30 hours of specialized training in pastoral or clinical counseling  

 

 

Board Certified Psychotherapy Educator (B.C.P.E.)
Board Certified Psychoanalysis Educator (B.C.P.E.)

  • Master's or Doctorate in any mental health discipline or other discipline acceptable to the Board
  • Endorsement by applicant's academic institution
  • Active in a local religious community 

RENEWAL REQUIRED BIENIALLY: EIGHT (8) UNITS APPROVED CEUs
